You Are Not Alone!
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Rev. 21:4 (ESV)
Greetings, Everyone!
In February, I shared with you that I lost my mother in November of 2024. The pain and emptiness that I am feeling brings on so many different emotions. There are days I smile when I think about her and then there are days that I become withdrawn, sad, and lonely. I know some of us have already lost a parent or both. Well, I have lost both. Not having your parents will make someone re-evaluate their life. An individual will look at their lifestyle, their family and friends, their job, and most importantly their relationship with God. So, what is sustaining me through my grief? The Word of God.
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Heb 4:12, ESV) The Word of God can sort out what is of flesh and what is of the spirit. Christ understands that the death of a loved one is a painful experience, In John 11:33-35, Jesus responded both physically and emotionally as He identified with their sorrow. The Lord sees and feels the anguish of God’s people when their loved ones die (Job 34:28; Ps. 6:8, 9:12, 34:15). Christ is with us always, sorting out our pain and joy because in Him we have life.
I encourage you to read these verses if you ever feel alone:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:1-5, ESV).
Now replace the Word with Jesus:
“In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. Jesus was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Jesus, and without Jesus was not anything made that was made. In Jesus was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Jesus is my source and my healer. Jesus is the light that shines through my sadness that I may endure for now. He is my joy and my peace (John 14:27). Let’s continue to check on each other and pray for one another. You may assume that the person may be fine, but if God placed them in your heart to think about them, please be obedient and check-in. You may be that answered prayer for someone. These actions will let that individual know that they are not alone.
Take care everyone and God bless.
